Scott Nelson Construction, Inc. was founded by Scott Nelson in 1979. At that time, Scott was a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was studying architectural engineering. His father was a residential architect and Scott followed his father to jobsites at an early age. By 1979, Scott already had practical experience in the homebuilding industry because he worked for numerous homebuilders in the Chicago area during summer breaks from high school and college. Scott went on to receive his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois. But, what started out as a need for a summer job has evolved into a lifetime career of homebuilding.

When Scott Nelson Construction, Inc. first started, Scott worked every day on the job with a crew of carpenters. This gave him the keen eye for detail and superior craftsmanship that is shown in his homes today. Today, Scott manages a dedicated and competent group of subcontractors that work in unison to produce the fine homes for which he is known. Some of these subcontractors have worked for him for over 20 years. They have shown over the years that they are able to deliver the quality and craftsmanship that Scott demands from his subcontractors to produce the homes that give him the outstanding reputation he enjoys today.

Scott still uses his architectural background to design the homes that he builds today. Customers work directly with Scott when they are designing a custom home or making changes to a model home. Scott will still be seen on the job everyday overseeing the work to keep it on schedule and answer questions that subcontractors have about details of that specific job.
